Novamox is used in the treatment of infections of the ear, nose, and throat, infections of the genitourinary tract, infections of the skin and skin structure, infections of the lower respiratory tract, gonorrhea, acute uncomplicated (ano-genital and urethral infections) and H. pylori eradication to reduce the risk of duodenal ulcer recurrence. The active ingredient present in Novamox is Amoxycillin Trihydrate.

To maintain the effectiveness of Novamox and other antibacterial drugs, Novamox is to be used only to treat or prevent infections that are proven or strongly suspected to be caused by bacteria.

Novamox is a moderate-spectrum, bacteriolytic, β-lactam antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections caused by susceptible microorganisms. It is usually the drug of choice within the class because it is better absorbed, following oral administration, than other β-lactam antibiotics. It is also a treatment for cystic acne. Novamox is susceptible to degradation by β-lactamase-producing bacteria, and so may be given with Novamox to decrease its susceptibility.
